A set of event materials for the Museum of Science + Industry Columbian Ball created as part of a Media Business Law course. Keeping with the overall theme of the event, collateral for the Columbian Ball will marry two distinct aesthetics: that of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, and one of technological and scientific advancement in the 21st century. Using photography, maps and souvenirs from the 1893 fair as reference and source material, collateral for this event will feature “cross-sections” of items of the past and technology of today and the future. Where appropriate, Victorian decorative fonts will be used in headings and titles, supported by thin, sans serif fonts for body and detail copy. In order to appeal to an appropriate audience, minimal but elegant uses of color and a generous use of negative space will be employed. Color palette to include white, greys, & deep blues.
